Improving your well-being through Sewing, Crochet and Knitting

It’s become more and more well known that taking part in a creative activity improves well-being and mental health. Over recent months particularly, enjoying a relaxing hobby has been well recognised as providing many health benefits, including; relieving symptoms of anxiety, loneliness, depression and even dementia.

A recent study by The Crafts Council showed that participating in sewing as a leisure activity contributed to psychological wellbeing through increasing pride and enjoyment, self-awareness, and ‘flow’ in younger women.

These activities all help to improve mood and lower stress  – the effort, multi-sensory engagement, repetitive actions and  anticipation of satisfaction involved in making something are related to release of neurotransmitters that promote joy and well-being, while also reducing stress hormones.

We have embraced this concept and alongside our counselling therapies, we also offer many Craft activities at our beautiful garden studio. You can find out more by taking a look at the information we have at or by getting in touch.
